Bit of a long fucking trek for the Geordies on Christmas Eve isn't it?

On the other hand, fuck 'em

Just as long as Newcastle get all their presents 24 hours later...

Presume Westfields think Sat 23rd is a better shopping day than Xmas eve on a Sunday.
Can only imagine that's why it would change

David Gold came out yesterday saying that he didn't have a problem with us playing on Christmas Eve. I reckon the club are in on this and have volunteered to change the match. They've been got at by Westfield that don't want us anywhere near them on the Saturday - the Saturday before Christmas is the busiest shopping day of the year.

I imagine trains back to Newcastle late on Xmas eve will be:
Not running or
Horrendously expensive

Merry Christmas!

Re: Newcastle h on Xmas eve ????????????
It says in the article that another option is the Friday night. I would imagine that would be the best option for Westfield so I expect that is the slot it will go to.... completely shafts Newcastle fans though.

So no home game again between Xmas and Jan 1st thanks to Westfield, and now we are playing on Xmas Eve. Who the fuck is going to go on Xmas Eve?

FWIW - my comment 'below the line' is

As a STH at the not-so-super-bowl I'm not surprised at the thought our game would be moved. We're not allowed to have any home games between xmas and new year for fear of disrupting the Xmas sales shoppers. We're at home on NYD - not surprising as not even Mrs Esherhammer wants to hit the sales with a hangover.

The chances of us keeping the 3pm Saturday slot (or any Saturday slot for that matter) to avoid shoppers was remote - and whilst we're already hosting two Friday night games in the next few weeks, I can't see the police being too happy with the prospect of a third on the last working day before xmas when resources will be stretched.

Modern football is shit - I've fallen out of love with it. I persevere because my 10 y-o son is still in awe (though when he's old enough to pay the 2025 equivalent of £5 for a pint of canal water he may change his mind).
The train services into and out of Waterloo will no doubt be shit (though some may say that's an improvement)
Having one 3pm Saturday home kick off between Aug and Dec is shit

Sky will have to compromise on kick off time as trains usually stop running after 9pm on xmas eve.

But I thought Karren 'spurs' Brady said that West Ham would have priority over everything else?

Christmas Eve is far to traditional for me and the family. Would cause havoc to even suggest watching a game that day.
Massive No from me

Bit annoying if this changed as I'm off to Melbourne for the 4th test on Xmas Eve

Ludicrous!

Another example of football fans being taken for a ride

Would this be happening if it was Manu City or Liverpool?

If ever a game should be boycotted it's this one

jack_flash

Liverpool could be affected as they may be playing Arsenal on the same day.

Something really does need to be done about this. I must confess though, I don't know what....

It's about time the club stuck up for its supporters....I mean customers and told sky/bt to feck of.

Re: Newcastle h on Xmas eve ????????????
no surprise the Beardy is showing contempt for our own fans again. or should i call them customers?
hopefully no fucker turns up and they learn their lesson sharpish.

10 times worse for the newcastle fans as well. but i'm sure Beardy doesnt consider anyone's journey whilst sitting in the back of his Bentley.

I'm sure we have played on Xmas eve before, but can't remember when and who.

I think it might have been around late 70s, early 80s, I'm sure someone will correct me.

Can we not just do a deal with the Geordies that given we didn't turn up at their place, can they just not turn up at ours?
